Cataract
The eyepiece is located behind the pupil and allows us to see light by dropping it on the nerve layer. To lose the transparency of the eye lens for any reason is called cataract.
What are the causes of cataract?
The most common cause of cataract is old age. Although it is usually seen after 60 years of age, it can be found in all ages, from newborns to middle-aged people.
Symptoms of cataract are as follows;
– Reduction in vision
– Sensitivity to light (glare)
– Color fading or yellowing
– Double vision
– Distortion in night vision
– Difficulty of reading
– Frequent change of glasses numbers
Currently, surgical treatment is the only treatment method. With the development of modern techniques, cataract treatment can be done painlessly without needles and narcosis and the patient can return home on the same day. Cataract surgery is performed using the phacoemulsification method; removing the blurred lens and replacing the artificial lens. With this operation, the quality of the lens placed in the eye and the experience of the physician directly affect the eye health after surgery.
